PCC has extensive expertise with solidification modeling. Traditional part development is an iterative process that compares actual casting quality with engineering expectations. Solidification modeling enables PCC to simulate the casting process on the computer prior to trials on the shop floor. When solidification modeling is combined with statistical experimentation it can yield significant results. Modeling is a tremendous tool, but has some limitations. Simulation significantly reduces part development time, but, with only about 90 percent accuracy, does not completely eliminate it.
