A new robot dips a multi-stage vane segment at PCC Structurals' Deer Creek facility.

In investing, the wax pattern is dipped into a special slurry and coated with a fine grain sand. This alternating slurry and sand process is repeated many times to produce a mold or "investment". The mold shell is heated in a pressurized vessel that causes the wax to liquefy and drain out of the mold, leaving only the shell. The shell is now hollow and ready to be filled with one of PCC Structurals' alloys.
